About this deal

In general terms, unless you’re particularly sensitive to colour accuracy, you’ll find this an improvement overall. For my money, the increased contrast, brightness and resolution is more important than the dip in colour accuracy, but it is important to note that the G8 Plus is probably stronger overall. Motorola Moto G8 Power review: Performance The macro camera, as is the case with most macro snappers you find on smartphones, took pictures that weren’t as good as those taken with the main camera. W-CDMA (Wideband Code Division Multiple Access) is an air interface used by 3G mobile networks. It is one of the three different UMTS interfaces together with the TD-SCDMA and the TD-CDMA. The standard provides faster data transfer speeds and allows more users to connect to the network simultaneously. The dimensions of 164.9 x 75.8 x 9.2mm tell you it’s pretty big, as they match those of some Plus-sized devices, and at 200g it weighs quite a bit for a budget phone (which are typically made of plastics and other lighter materials), though we’d assume a lot of that heft is thanks to the big battery.

Battery The batteries of mobile devices differ in capacity and technology. They provide the electrical charge needed for the functioning of the devices. Capacity The Moto G8 Power runs Android 10 out of the box, giving users access to Dark Mode, Digital Wellbeing screen-time monitoring, and Smart Replies that suggest responses when you’re typing, much like those in Gmail or other Google products. In good lighting, the Moto G8’s camera is highly capable for this end of the market. It will struggle a little more when you’re shooting in low light, but it’s not really any worse than other handsets around this price. However, there is one caveat to the battery performance: its charging speeds aren’t quite so impressive, as this device doesn’t boast the fast-charging tech that does exist for some other phones of similar prices. TimeBattery life on the Moto G8 is quite impressive, and it’s sure to last for at least a full day even when you’re using the device a lot. We often found the Moto G8 would last for over a day, but would need a recharge mid-way through the second day of usage. Motorola has also introduced a feature called “Moto GameTime” to this year’s G8 series. Intended to boost performance and allow you to adjust settings and notifications to minimise distractions, when I used this feature my game crashed – and let me tell you, that doesn’t exactly make things more convenient. As for benchmarks, the phone scored an average of 1,324 in Geekbench 5. That’s a similar score to what we saw the Oppo A5 (2020) achieve and it’s an impressive result for a phone of this price. The Moto G8 stretches out a more significant lead when it comes to gaming. In the GFXBench Manhattan 3 test, the Moto G8 achieved an average on-screen frame rate of 34fps, which is double that of the Redmi Note 8T. That’s because the G8 has a lower resolution display. There’s an even bigger boost when you compare it with last year’s G7: The fact it’s a Motorola phone also means the Moto G8 Power gets Motorola’s signature Android overlay, and it’s just as welcome here as it is in the brand’s other phones. While we mostly love it for the gesture shortcuts (chop-chop to turn on flashlight, twist twice to pop open the camera app, and more), we also appreciate other customization features like the option to turn off notifications while you’re gaming.

If you’ve got smaller hands, you may not appreciate how large this phone is. It comes with dimensions of 161.3 x 75.8 x 9mm, making it a larger device than a lot of other cheap phones, which could make it a struggle for some to hold. If you’re familiar with the design of any of Motorola's G8 line of phones, you’ll know what the Moto G8 Power Lite looks like, as they’re all very similar looking, although the G8 Power Lite also borrows some design elements from the Moto G7 line. The Motorola G8 Power has a Snapdragon 665 chipset, which is a modest mid-range chip rather than being a world-beating powerhouse. moto g8 power lite - android smartphone | Motorola WE". www.motorola.com/we . Retrieved 4 April 2020. Networks A mobile (cellular) network is a radio system, which allows a large number of mobile devices to communicate with each other. GSMThe display resolution shows the number of pixels on the horizontal and vertical side of the screen. The higher the resolution is, the greater the detail of the displayed content. Information about the electric current (amperes) and voltage (volts) the charger outputs. The higher power output allows faster charging. The screen is one of the areas where the Moto G8 Power Lite gets a downgrade compared to other Moto G8 devices – with a 720 x 1600 resolution it’s rather low-res, and only HD, unlike most other smartphone displays which are FHD or above.
