About this deal

Sound quality is one of the most important factors when it comes to choosing a radio. While there are lots of good budget radios on the market, their sound quality can be disappointing. The engineering that went into this unit also means that you continue to access the same unbeatable music quality at any volume. Even if you crank the sound up all the way, you’ll be able to achieve the same composure with even the most complex tunes. The 15cm bass driver certainly helps to support this, ensuring that you can always obtain a rich and warm undercurrent in your songs. BMR (Balanced Mode Radiator) speaker drivers utilise flat diaphragm transducer technology and combine the performance attributes of a flat panel speaker with the pistonic movement of a conventional loudspeaker, resulting in a high performance compact drive unit that develops wide dispersion and an expanded swe

Like the R5, the R7 has an internet tuner, so you can listen to thousands of stations from around the world using WiFi. The 40W class D amplifier used and the two 3.5″ BMR speakers (balanced mode radiator) ensure room-filling digital audio rich in bass, clarity and details with an extensive sound field. Roberts are one of the most recognised radio manufacturers, with a history of making quality products. This radio has a lot of features. It offers FM/DAB/DAB+ radio as well as an internet tuner for listening to radio stations via WiFi.Look for brands that have a reputation for good sound quality. The best brands for sound quality at the moment are arguably Revo and Ruark, though Pure and Roberts make some great-sounding radios too. UNDOK is a free app for iOS or Android that puts you in complete control of the SuperCD. This includes the ability to create a wireless multi-room system with up to five SuperCDs or other UNDOK compatible devices - all under the control of your smartphone or tablet. For the Revo SuperSystem DAB+, the company has chosen the range of materials available based not just how they look, but how well they support the quality of sound emitted. UNDOK technology links up to five SuperCD or other UNDOK compatible devices (such as our SuperSystem radio) to create a wireless multiroom system. This radio has a single speaker, so it only offers mono output, but the sound quality is still great. The bass might seem a bit heavy at first, but you can adjust it to your liking with the EQ settings.

This Revo system also has the advantage of offering Spotify Connect (requires Spotify Premium account). Spotify Connect uses your existing Spotify account but seamlessly transfers it between sources. So, for example, you might be listening to Spotify on your mobile device then, when you arrive home, transfer it to the Revo radio at the touch of a button! Wherever you use 3G or 4G, Wi-Fi or LAN, AirPlay, Bluetooth or UPnP, Spotify Connect simply keeps the music following - seamlessly. Some consumers believe that the quality of Roberts products has declined in recent years, but the brand still produces several high-end models with excellent sound quality. Revival iStream 3 Prices valid in stores (all including VAT) until close of business on 29th November 2023. (Some of these web prices are cheaper than in-store, so please mention that you've seen these offers online.) Das SuperCD erlaubt den Empfang diverser Radiostandards: DAB & DAB+, UKW mit RDS und Internetradio via WiFi. Hierdurch hat man Zugriff auf über 36.000 unterschiedliche Sender weltweit.

At the other end of the frequency extreme, the Revo isn't quite so well sorted. There is no shortage of bass from the lower firing driver and the mounting system is sufficiently stout that there is no sense of it sounding flabby or uncontrolled but the integration between it and the BMRs isn't perfect. The changeover isn't perfect between the two and the tonality shifts very slightly as it does so. Unless you happen to be listening to music where something critical is happening at this crossover point, the effect is not too pronounced though and the Revo does a more convincing job than many rivals.

But if you’re happy to pop over to the R3 and switch this manually each time, you can enjoy the best which the R3 has to offer, which is considerable. It’s a delightful CD player, for example, those full-quality files filling the room with well-balanced sound. And the louder you play, the happier the R3 seems to be; the bass available from the two 75mm drivers is remarkable as you raise the level; its response begins in the 40s of hertz and rises impressively smoothly. There’s a gorgeous walnut wood casing, with volume control and CD slot on the top. Discs are loaded in vertically, which adds to the retro-futurist feel. The front panel, meanwhile, really looks the part, with a vintage design to it. In our SuperConnect review, we mentioned that model resembles a vintage hifi. The SuperCD takes that to the next level- with the way that the controls are set out, along with the wider body, it’s almost like a genuine guitar amp from the mid-Seventies. Featuring a CD player, network streamer with Spotify, DAB and FM radios, Bluetooth, auxiliary inputs, multi-room potential and USB charging, one system truly does it all! Factor in Revo’s class-leading sound and style and you have one premium compact system. We changed to internet radio – it was no better, indeed slightly worse on low-resolution stations. We were worried by this, to be honest: it was not the sound we expect from Ruark devices, which normally present a warm friendly radio sound. As well as sounding great, their radios are also incredibly stylish and will enhance the look of any room in the house. In addition to Internet radio and streaming, the SuperCD also offers DAB and FM wavebands. DAB (Digital Audio Broadcasting) gives access to the widest range of stations in the UK, in crisp and clear digital sound quality. In case your favourite stations aren't available in DAB, then the SuperCD is also equipped with an FM tuner. Boasting RDS for station naming, this is almost as easy to use as DAB and still provides great sound quality. Once you invest in a radio, you’re likely to own it for several years, so you want to make sure you choose one with excellent sound quality. The sound can be adjusted to your taste using the 6-position equaliser with separate bass and treble options. We began our listening by sampling its skills with radio. We selected digital radio and, being fresh from the box, the R3 scanned Sydney’s airwaves and found some 70 available DAB+ stations all awaiting selection via a shuttle of the R3’s top Rotodial. And all were sounding pretty unpleasant – very spitty in the treble, artificial-sounding, with voices thin in their midrange content, and music lumpy in the bass.

They are based in the Scottish market town of Lanark, and have won several awards for the performance and design of their products since having been founded in 2004. There is a chunky plastic remote but the best way to wield and juggle all of these sources is via the app. There is no official app, but Revo uses the free Undok app to great effect. The Revo SuperSystem is the flagship of the Revo range which is focussed on compact single chassis devices that are intended to be used as standalone systems. What sets the Revo apart from many of its rivals is that is equipped with a specification that goes a long way to justifying the use the word 'Super' in the title. The SuperSystem is able to offer a range of functionality that should allow it to take on a number of roles in a household. For those with less than 20/20 vision who can’t read the small lettering on the front display across the room for source selection (let alone the tinier menu options), there’s a handy free app available for control. This is Undok, the control app from Frontier Silicon, maker of the smart module within the R3.A hand-crafted wooden cabinet has been selected for its superb acoustic properties, no other material provides the deep foundations of great audio performance like wood. Aesthetically, SuperCD is a balanced blend of modernity and mid-century charm – perfectly proportioned, substantial, handsome. Whilst always looking to innovate, we also keep one eye on the past, learning and taking inspiration from the great designers of the 20th century. We believe that form should follow function and that attention to detail matters. Good design and the use of quality materials enrich and elevate the user experience. SuperCD is equipped to receive a wide range of radio standards including DAB, DAB+, FM with RDS and wi-fi internet radio – providing access to over 30,000 stations from around the world. The more we played, the more songs reacted badly to the 3D setting, and we ended up keeping it off, with one notch down also on the treble slider to prevent residual fizziness in the treble. Most of their current products include ‘Super’ in the name (SuperCD, SuperConnect, SuperSystem etc.)
