About this deal

And now for a comparison between two luxury crystal wine glass brands: Zalto and the Gabriel Glas Gold wine glasses we recently reviewed. The range starts with the standard (“StandArt”) version – a machine-cut, dishwasher-safe, lead-free crystal glass. The other option is the Gold Edition, a mouth-blown glass that is lighter and finer but otherwise identical. The StandArt glass weighs in at just 145g and the mouth-blown Gold Edition a mere 90g. Other Occasions & Loved Ones Gift Guides All Other Occasions & Loved Ones For Teens For Grandparents For Bridal Shower For New Parents For Any Occasion Use less dishwasher soap than usual, as excessive dishwasher soap may cause buildup on the glass, causing it to get hazy.

I can endorse the way that the Gabriel Glass amplifies the wine’s bouquet and is brilliantly fine and light. It’s wafer thin and an absolute delight to use,” continues Bob Campbell MW, before offering a glimpse of how it performs in the personal, as opposed to professional, arena. “My wife, Marion, is a huge fan. She’s been nagging me to write a blog promoting Gabriel-Glas since we first tried them. I urge you to test drive one as soon as possible.” It has been a long time between shared drinks for a lot of us. I have not hosted a dinner since October 2019. I am keen to get out and share great food and great company. How about you? The bowl of a wine glass is the part that holds your wine, and they come in all sorts of shapes. In general, a wider bowl leads to greater aeration, allowing the wine to “breathe,” which alters its flavor, as well as allowing for more aromas to make their way to your nose. Different types of wine require different levels of aeration and aroma, but a general rule of thumb is that red wines should have a wider bowl, white wines should have a narrower one and sparkling wines should be served in the narrowest vessels. When you have used Gabriel Glas, you will notice that the design makes it the best universal glass in the market. Its bowl is wide enough unlike others who are not wide enough for Pinot and Chardonnay. Others who try to copy/replicate will not achieve the same effect. Nothing else comes close!Zalto’s Denk’Art Universal Glass is undeniably among the best of the best, and cult-favorite Turkish glassware brand NUDE also has some very appealing and versatile options for reds and whites at a fraction of Zalto’s price tag, though their selection can be a bit overwhelming at times. While these brands have both been on my wish list for quite some time, I decided to dig a bit deeper to see what else was out there. With its timeless design and wide bowl, the glass is ideal for white or red wines (and sparkling too, for that matter), as the aesthetic presentation of the wine is attractive and the aromatics are rich and pleasing. We found that delicate aromatics opened up a bit more after swirling, allowing us to experience more of the wine characteristics.

Top points were awarded for its aesthetics, and we liked the fact that the base is the same width as the bell, which is always a sound design choice in a quality wine glass. We also appreciated the way the glass accentuated the olfactory notes of white wine in particular, with its more narrow design probably more suited for pretty whites than for robust reds. While this isn't a cheap glass, it will surely be a hit with anyone whose wine habits skew toward the white side of things. It is suitable for all wines, also for champagne, brandy, whiskey and the inventor, René Gabriel even drinks his beer from it.

The Story

StandArt is the machine made version of Gabriel Glas Gold. The concept here is 'One for All' universal wine glas. Designed by Rene Gabriel, the renowned Swiss wine critic because as a wine lover, he was trying to fine a solution to the many different type of glasses for wines. That said, Gabriel-Glas has two different models, the StandArt and the Gold Edition. They look almost identical and both are made of lead-free crystal, but the StandArt glass is machine molded and the Gold Edition is mouth-blown. As such, the Gold is more delicate and elegant, particularly the stem, which seems almost impossibly thin. Every time you taste a wine, it is an event. I would like to think it can be educational too. I hate stuffy wine events, so whether it’s a casual tasting or a Masterclass over dinner, I promise a fun, interactive and informative occasion… with great wine. Please take a peak below or view all our events here. The first thing that anyone will notice about this glass is the unique and fascinating shape—but there's much more to the Josephinenhütte Josephine No. 3 Red Wine Glass than what first meets the eye. A visually striking glass crafted from lead-free crystal, it's also an ideal vessel for your next glass of robust red wine. While it might be a bit pricey compared to other options, it's a statement piece—and also happens to be a very practical red wine vessel. I also spoke with Paola Embry, CEO and wine director at the Wrigley Mansion in Phoenix, Arizona, who recommends the machine-made StandArt for casual everyday drinking, pointing out that this glass has a wonderfully fine rim despite coming in at less than half the cost of its mouth-blown counterpart, the Gold Edition. “Both glasses are as light as a feather, have a super thin lip, and a perfect size bowl,” she said. “One of the more important aspects of great glassware that I look for is the thinness of the rim.” Depending on your reasons for buying glassware, you need to think about the size of the bowl. If you’re more of a red wine drinker, you’ll need a bigger bowl to properly swirl and aerate the wine and a smaller bowl for white wines. The actual height of the glass is something to think about, too. How does the glass feel in your hand? You don’t want it to feel too small or too big. Weight Small Home Appliances Home & Kitchen All Small Home Appliances Vacuums Air Conditioners Space Heaters HumidifiersThere are five ounces in a standard pour of wine, which equates to five glass per 750-milliliter bottle. If you need to stretch a bottle to six glasses, try to only pour four ounces. StandArt is THE GO TO wine glass for home dinners and parties because all you need is just ONE glass! Reduce clutter...and thereby breakage! Save space and save money at the same time because you no longer need a set of white wine glass and a set of Bordeaux or another set of Burgundy glass. While collecting glasses, we were delighted to get our hands on the newly launched Jancis Robinson + Richard Brendon “1” collaboration. If you don’t know her, Jancis Robinson is one of the world’s foremost wine critics. So, this particular glass comes with a lot of built-in street credit! Which Glass Won? Voted the No. 1 wine glass in the world by the much referred to and award-winning wine blogger Wine Folly. The presentation box makes this a perfect gift for wine drinkers! Very classy and posh gift box. Bowl Clarity: One thing I noticed on all the hand blown models was an amazing clarity. Many machine-made glasses will have slight ribbing on the bowl, and it distorts light. It doesn’t affect the taste, but it’s one of those things you notice when looking at quality.
