On a successful pincode being entered, your phones bluetooth name will come up on the stereo display, and your phone will be "bonded" with your stereo for bluetooth usage. Phone connectivity was optional on the Focus MK2/MK2.5. This requires the optional Bluetooth/Voicecontrol system. This is a separate system that communicates with the radio over the CANbus network. Whether the car does or does not have the optional Bluetooth/Voicecontrol system can easily be determined by the radio stalk. Cars with Bluetooth/Voicecontrol do have a VOICE button on top of the radio stalk. On cars without Bluetooth/Voicecontrol the phone buttons on the radio act as mute buttons. If a Bluetooth/Voicecontrol module is connected the phone functions and menu of the radio will be active. Basically the parrot unit sits between the original head unit wiring and the head unit itself. It then uses the power supplied to the head unit to power itself and then when you use it, it cuts the sound from the head unit and sends the sound out through the car speakers.

It is unlikely that you will be able to use the later spec. BT/VC module (8M5T-19C112-AM) as the firmware in your stereo will be to old and it’s very unlikely that Ford have released the firmware to dealers to upgrade stereo’s â€" and I doubt the technician’s ability to do it correctly anyway. To do this, depending on the make of your stereo, you need to play around with the phone menu. Find out how to debond and get rid of existing stored phones. When someone calls you it will interrupt the radio/CD/Aux and display the name on the radio. Press the phone button on the radio or the mode button on the audio stalk to answer, then the same buttons to hang up. Unfortunately it doesn't allow for music over bluetooth due to the 7M5T module but I'm looking into getting the other one working so I can do this.

Next remove the 2 triangle's in the stereo surround (small electrical screwdriver), then undo the 2 torx screws on either side and the 2 at the bottom, pull panel forward a small amount and disconnect the three switches at the top, pull the panel forward some more and disconnect the 2 plugs from the climate control, place panel securely out of the way. On second thoughts, why install a bluetooth car kit when you can choose to look like a knob, like this guy? You will need: Direct CD changer port connection involving no FM Modulation for high quality sound without interference. Refit the stereo surround, reconnect the battery, switch on stereo, input your key code. Press the voice switch and you should here a beep, 10 secs later you should be asked “Device Please” say “Radio” and the stereo should reply “Radio”. This confirms everything is connected properly. If not the usual culprits will be the microphone wires. Answer/Reject calls though your original car radio/navigation system via the FF (Fast forward) button.

Having read the documentation that came with the car (which spans several variations of car and stereo model), I believe there may be the functionality to stream music from my iPhone to the stereo, however I just cannot figure out how to do it... Thread the BT cable up to there and connect to the BT module, then mount the module using screw 1428699.
