About this deal

In addition to its main "Generation 1" based series, IDW put out mini-series based on other then-current Transformers media, including the live-action film series, Transformers Animated, the "Aligned" continuity (primarily Prime and Robots in Disguise)... and even a "sequel" series to the original Marvel comics continuity, separate from Generation 2 because... reasons. And on top of that, numerous out-of-continuity mini-series crossovers with non-Hasbro properties. Each year's BotCon box set of toys also included a full comic issue, telling a story featuring that year's crop of toy exclusives. Many were "jumping off" points for later prose stories or magazine comics, and even included all-new continuities, most notably the "Shattered Glass" "mirror universe" series. Most years, these comics were reprinted with extra ancillary material and sold in comic shops later in the year.

You can read most of the issues through the IDW Transformers Classics and Classics UK collections digitally or in print, although the Classics UK series has been put on indefinite hiatus as of Volume 5. The other main options are the Titan Books reprints, which have better printing quality compared to Classics US but don't completely collect some of the earlier UK material, and are only available in print, or the Definitive G1 Collection from Hatchette, which completely reprints US and UK material but is unavailable outside the UK.

In the UK, Titan Magazines put out a Transformers comic magazine to coincide with the 2007 live-action movie. This book would run for seven years, containing new stories set not only in the live-action film continuity (all the way up to Age of Extinction), but for Transformers Animated and Transformers: Prime as well. Meanwhile, their British branch, Marvel UK, also published Transformers comics, a mix of reprinted strips from the US series (occasionally slightly edited or recontextualized) and original strips primarily written by the aforementioned Simon Furman: The Transformers: Headmasters (1987) — the first Transformers miniseries, introducing the Headmaster characters before their story continued in the main comic starting with issue #38. Various parodies and homages to its distinctly surreal cover art including an incentive cover of " The Death of Optimus Prime", Cover B of the final issue of Regeneration One, a convention exclusive cover for Till All Are One #1, the "cover" for " The Inexorable March", and a retailer incentive cover to Unicron #1.

Marvel UK also featured a crossover between these two properties. 'Ancient Relics' began in Issue 125 of the UK comic and continued within issues #24-#27 of Action Force, (the name given to the G.I. Joe comic series in the UK). [25] The Transformers: Headmasters, Marvel, U.S., 1987–1988 [ edit ] Autobot Fortress Maximus removes his own head while on the planet Nebulos. From issue #1 of The Transformers: Headmasters mini-series published by Marvel Comics. To put it bluntly, the Marvel UK Transformers comic is 100% better than the American version we get over here. Your comics have beautiful covers, high quality artwork and very intelligent plots. Here in the States, Transformers comics are monthly instead of weekly and have bad artwork and stupid plots. Thank you for showing us the Autobots and Decepticons of the 21st Century. You guys in Britain are, as always, one step ahead when it comes to time travel (from Wells' Time Machine to Doctor Who — you always come through)!Timelines ended in 2016 when Hasbro dissolved its Transformers relationship with Fun Publications. The rights to the G.I. Joe convention and club continued with Fun Publications another two years, but that too came to an end. Optimus Primal/Megatron Mini-Comic – "Beast Wars" ". Archived from the original on 4 November 2015 . Retrieved 24 February 2013. Stormbringer debuted in July 2006 and is set during the same time frame as Infiltration as in the first issue, Optimus Prime receives Ironhide's message from Infiltration. The setting is far from Earth, and the Transformers are scattered across the universe since Cybertron had been made uninhabitable by war. The series' main villain is Thunderwing, and key protagonists include Jetfire and the Technobots. The mini-series was promoted with the tagline "No Humans on Cybertron!", referring to many fans' discontent over the human cast of Infiltration. The four-issue series was written by Simon Furman and drawn by Don Figueroa. The two had previously collaborated on several projects for Dreamwave, as well as IDW's own Beast Wars: The Gathering.
