About this deal

You, With A View, was so freaking cute. Great debut romance with likable characters all around. The MC connection felt real. They had a past together so it was easy to believe they were falling for each other in the present. Paul was so adorable. Such a great grandfather and constant supporter of Theo. What would you do, if you found a love letter and photos in your beloved and recently deceased grandmother's things, which wasn't from your grandfather?

I really loved writing Paul, Theo’s granddad. He serves as such a pillar of support for both Theo and Noelle throughout the book, and doles out so much wisdom about life and love and success and failure. In hindsight, some of the things Paul says to Theo and Noelle are things that I needed to hear myself, and he’s been such a resonant character for early readers! There’s one particular part where he says to Theo and Noelle (who are both going Through It), “take heart, you two. Nothing lasts forever.” And when Noelle asks if that’s a good or bad thing, he says, “both.” I think about that moment a lot and apply it to my own life—it’s a reminder to revel in the good moments and to find relief amidst the bad moments, because both will pass you by.

I do wish the end had wrapped up a little faster, but that’s purely because I love the HEA trope, I felt that it was coming and couldn’t wait to see it. I also really wish this had been multiple POV, I would have loved to see Theo’s POV or maybe even a chapter from Paul. This delivers exactly what it says it does - a cute romance perfect for the summer! I loved the road trip aspect of the book and I was so happy that the road trip takes place for the majority of the book - it was really great to travel on this two-week-long adventure with Noelle and see the sights, The author has a fantastic writing style that really conveys itself well to the genre and to the vibes of the book, so it was a really enjoyable read, and I thought that Noelle and Theo had really great chemistry!

Noelle is such a wonderful MC, she’s so strong and even after everything she’s been through she is such a kind and giving soul, she is the human embodiment of sunshine to me, even on the darker days she’s still there trying to fight for those she loves. I loved Theo from his very first line in the book. He calls her Shep, which is a low blow, and they are not shy about needling each other and competing all the time, just like they did in high school. Who says their rivalry has to end? I know how easy it is for grief to surprise you, even when you think you have your arms around it. It's not a linear experience, and while I wanted to write a book that prominently featured a healing journey, there are certainly moments where grief walks alongside the MC. I wondered for the four hundredth time why the hell I can't figure out how to adult successfully.” hard same The couple moved outside her field of vision (= total area you can see from a particular position).I’m a visual creature. I’m not sure how much shirtless stimulation I can take before I break in some way. That would be catastrophic. […]
