About this deal

I'm going to show you how to use two molds, a silicone mold, and an acrylic mold. I thought that I had to use an acrylic mold to get that ultimate shine but to be honest, after decorating I'm not sure I could even tell the difference between the two. Pipe a small amount of melted chocolate on edges of filled hemispheres; carefully adhere empty halves to filled halves, pressing lightly to seal, using additional melted chocolate if necessary. If desired, decorate with optional ingredients. Refrigerate until set. Store in a tightly sealed container. One thing that I really enjoyed was the convenience of these little hollow chocolate spheres as there's no hassle of mixing up the hot chocolate powder with milk.

We totally get it if you want to make hot chocolate bombs with marshmallows already inside and ready to melt into a gooey mess in your drink. Fortunately, it’s super easy to make your hot chocolate bombs with marshmallows as well – just put the marshmallows in the moulds after you’ve added the hot chocolate mix. You can then continue the recipe by sealing up the bombs and finishing them off with sprinkles as you want. Other Top Tips for Making Hot Chocolate Bombs I used the piping bag to add a little bit of chocolate to the cheeks, then pressed a snowflake sprinkle into the chocolate. Same for the nose, however, I used a red chocolate candy. My first ever foray into hot chocolate bombs was with the Moser Roth Belgian Milk Chocolate Bombe from Aldi. The budget supermarket is usually known for its good quality, so I had high hopes. My first foray into the world of trendy sweets seen on TikTok has certainly been an interesting one and there are certainly ones I would try again.Temper your chocolate (don't worry, we're doing this the easy way in the microwave and it only takes 5 minutes) Step 1 - Chop 24 ounces of good quality semi-sweet chocolate as finely as you can with a knife. This is kind of tedious but I promise it's worth it! You don't want ANY big chunks. If you're really serious about making cocoa bombs to sell, you'll want to get some couverture chocolate which is made to melt really smoothly and use in chocolate molds. Cut your chocolate as finely as you can, so you don't have any big chunks (You'll thank us later for this tip), and then melt the chocolate either in the microwave or on the stove until it is a smooth, glossy liquid. (For tips on how to melt chocolate, learn more here.)

The chocolate was frothy, creamy and velvety smooth - just what I look for in hot chocolates. It was also rich in flavour and came with a nice deep colour, nothing like those insipid watery ones you can occasionally get.

Heat your chocolate slowly as this prevents it from breaking. We like to use the double boiler method to help control this process, but you can use the microwave to melt the chocolate. Do this by microwaving for 30 seconds, stirring, then for 15-second increments from there. Step 4 - Repeat this process 2-5 more times until the chocolate is almost melted. Never heat more than 15 seconds and do not let your chocolate get above 90ºF. Once almost melted, just continue stirring until the chocolate is fully melted from the residual heat from the bowl. Step 2 - Paint a thin layer of chocolate using a paintbrush on the inside of the mold. Place into the fridge for 5 minutes to set. paintbrush for applying chocolate to silicone molds. If you're using an acrylic mold you won't need one. If you are finding it hard to coat the molds, you can use a pastry brush to paint the chocolate on. We suggest apply one layer, letting the chocolate set, then applying a second coat of chocolate to create structure.

Not only did the chocolate melt smoothly when milk was poured over the top, it also had an incredibly creamy texture that added to the indulgence. The chocolate was a little bit sweeter than the rest, which wasn't a problem for me as I have quite the sweet tooth. As the weather gets chillier and evenings grow darker, there's nothing better than curling up with a piping hot mug of hot chocolate topped with marshmallows. Aldi's Moser Roth chocolate bombe was velvety smooth - but a little bit pricey (Image: Reach PLC/Daily Record) Long gone are the days of mixing hot chocolate powder with milk before popping it all into the microwave, which, if you ask me, sounds so much more inconvenient.
