Goldkuhl, G. and Lind, M. ( 2010), “ A multi-grounded design research process”, in Global Perspectives on Design Science Research, Springer, pp. 45- 60. Just this month, Reuters reported that Shein failed to make full disclosures about its supply chain, details required by UK law in accordance with 2015’s Modern Slavery Act.

Rendering and Display: The final step is to generate and display the computer-generated content on top of the real-world environment. This step renders and displays virtual objects in the correct perspective and position relative to the user's viewpoint. To the user it should seem as if the objects are really there, like a hologram. Mixed Reality (MR): a view of the real world—physical world—with an overlay of digital elements where physical and digital elements can interact. Richard is Director for the world's first Masters programme in Digital Development. This seeks to create "digital development champions" who combine technical competencies in digital information systems and project management with an understanding of development context and practice. The programme typically includes overseas fieldwork and the possibility for international internships. The authors undertook a six-month case study (cf. Walsham, 2006) to explore users' perceptions of an open e-learning platform, and the “design–reality gaps” that emerged where the features developed by designers did not align with users' goals. Case study research was selected as an appropriate methodology, as it enabled the authors to explore the meanings and behaviours of users and designers, as well as the contexts in which they act. Concepts from affordance theory were empirically analysed, and potential extensions or modifications to their relationships were explored within the context of open e-learning (cf. Ridder, 2017). Our study centres on ECO2, a 36-month sustainability project funded by the EU Commission's Horizon 2020 programme. The aim of the project was to increase citizens' awareness of their energy consumption and improve energy efficiency in households through open e-learning. This is achieved by developing an open e-learning platform called ACT4ECO to help European citizens implement concrete actions for saving energy (see Figure 2). In total, the project aimed to reach 10,000 citizens across Europe who would sign up to the platform and learn how to complete actions that will increase their energy efficiency. The learning paths proposed by the open e-learning platform aim to support each user in climbing the “ladder of change” from “Motivation” to “Exploration” and finally to “Action”, where they make more environmentally sustainable choices ( Kahma et al., 2021).New IT-based inclusive business models (IT impact sourcing; sharing economy; platform cooperativism; etc) Information is provided on each module's estimated “duration”, “financial cost”, “difficulty” and “green” impact associated with each ACT4ECO theme There is no broad consensus on how user experience should be defined, but most scholars see it as something dynamic, context-dependent and subjective that emerges in individual encounters with a product, system, service or an object ( Law et al., 2009). The main design principles considered in UX design can refer to the presentation of the user interface, that is, (1) visual design principles (alignment, balance, contrast, hierarchy, proximity and space) ( Canziba, 2018, pp. 160–161, 168–173) but also knowledge on the actual use, in other words individual (2) experiential aspects such as the primarily evaluative feeling (good-bad), and the pragmatic and the hedonic quality. These qualities ultimately fulfil the user needs for autonomy, competency, stimulation, relatedness and popularity ( Hassenzahl and Tractinsky, 2006; Hassenzahl, 2008). In June, it was reported that the company had overtaken H&M, Zara and Forever 21 as the biggest fast fashion retailer in the US. But never in history has virtual reality ever been so achievable—and profitable. Recent tech advances in VR have many predicting it will eventually permeate all industries. Evangelists suggest its most beneficial applications to be:

Design Reality Limited told Made in Britain that it is a world-class designer and an expert in respiratory technology. The company is starting to manufacture what it says is the world’s first of its kind clear-view, CE-marked respirator, especially designed for healthcare workers. Having been awarded a grant by the Welsh Government Design Reality Limited is pleased to confirm it will be making every part of this new pandemic mask at its headquarters in Wales. Mel Slater, Distinguished Scientist and VR pioneer, Institute of Neurosciences of the University of Barcelona Richard’s current research focuses on the implications for global South countries of China’s emergence as a digital superpower, in competition with the US. He also has general interests in the role of ICTs in challenging authoritarian rule and fundamentalism. Recent studies have underlined the similarities of individual surveys and focus group as sources of data, emphasising how they investigate experiences, beliefs, and opinions in complementary ways. Nevertheless, there may be variation in the level of “depth” in terms of comparability and the frequency of themes ( Guest et al., 2017). The data collection methods are, therefore, not interchangeable. Morgan (1996) suggests that the main difference between individual and group data collection methods is that whereas the former produces deeper knowledge, the latter offers a broader perspective on the theme studied ( Crabtree et al., 1993; Morgan, 1996). The main strength of focus groups is that they allow for more speculation, as the group members encourage each other to elaborate on the discussed themes and consider a wide range of viewpoints beyond what is obvious ( Heikkilä and Kahma, 2008; Kaplowitz and Hoehn, 2001). This moves beyond individual observations to produce synergistic insights from the collective as participants engage in conversation around emerging issues raised by the wider group ( Braun and Clarke, 2013; Morgan, 1996). A weakness of focus groups is that findings may become positively or negatively skewed based on influence from other (sometimes more assertive) participants ( Morgan, 1996). Surveys can work better from the viewpoint of some subjects, who perhaps feel more at ease sharing their thoughts in a more direct medium. XR includes AR, MR, VR, and any technology—even those that have yet to be developed—situated at any point of the virtuality continuum.Richard researches the extent to which datafication and digitalisation reproduce or challenge economic, social and political marginalisation and inequality. This draws from foundational papers on data justiceand urban data justice, and includes the Urban Data Justice case collection and research into big data-based positive deviance. Recent work updates digital divide ideas with the concept of adverse digital incorporation, explaining how inequality increases for those included within digital systems, and encouraging digital development alternatives. And for all these technologies to work, they all need to feel real. The difference between them is how much they rely on physical or digital elements. What is the Virtuality Continuum? Mohammadi, H.
