About this deal

I realize that this probably doesn’t sound like a lot when you’re reading a review, but in daily use, it means that I’d reach more often for the basic version. Even at the finest setting, it takes only 30 seconds or so to grind enough beans for your espresso or pour over. Even if it is slightly slower than an electric grinder, this is still much faster than most manual grinders. 4.Ergonomic Handle and Silicone Sleeve K-Ultra comes with a cleaning brush, cleaning blower and travel carry case to maintain your burrs and ease portability. Bonus info : There’s also a bigger version called “C2 Max”, which has a slightly larger capacity at around 30 grams. In daily use

The J Max has a few premium features that the other J-Series grinders don’t have. Like the other grinders, it is well-built with an ergonomic design and a longer handle that is easier to rotate. It also has an anti-static burr cap which helps reduce static and thus coffee retention. The grinder comes with a magnetic catch cup which is easy to attach and detach, improving workflow. Finally, the J Max also comes with a travel case, cleaning brush, and air blower. All of these little features make everyday use simpler and a more pleasing experience. This makes it a touch more inconvenient than some electric coffee grinders which will either grind a certain weight or for a very precise length of time. This process ensures you get the exact amount that you need. The grinder is quite unusual because the handle turns vertically and not horizontally. The aim is to make it more ergonomic to operate. However, manual grinders are a little bit like smartphones. In recent years, they have gotten bigger and bigger, to the point where terms like “small, compact and mini’ almost don’t make sense anymore. Sure, you can keep the 2CV in your collection – it’s a museum-worthy design after all. But don’t use it as your daily driver. What would a review of manual coffee grinders be without at least a mention of one of the ancient German classics? This level of smoothness makes it a completely different experience to operate compared to entry-level models such as Hario Skerton or Porlex Mini. For the price, it’s reasonable to expect a top product. But the burrs aren’t high-end and do produce a lot of fines. Maybe it’s just me, but I’m also not a fan of forward-motion grinding. But then again, perhaps it’s because I’m more used to the traditional hand grinding. This is especially the case when you get to the finer end of the spectrum: When grinding finer, the two burrs will be closer to each other; obviously, this requires more force when turning the handle.

The JX Pro is relatively big and heavy compared to many portable manual grinders. This is partly due to the heavy-duty 48mm conical burr. The revamped Skerton with the ‘pro’ moniker, sports a completely new burr design. These burrs have less wobble than the old ones due to improved construction, and as a bonus, it’s way easier to adjust the grind now. Also, you won’t have to worry about threads on the cup getting worn down with wear and tear, which is something that could be an issue on the Jx over several years. The real difference

Updated in 2023: They also released two new grinders with a foldable handle to the product line: The X-Pro and K-Ultra. We are going to review them soon. The adjustable grind selector has a high number of settings that allows you to make very precise adjustments. You can dial in the perfect grind for your espresso or pour over very easily using the knob on top of the grinder. 3. Very Fast Grinding In the official info from 1Z they mention that both Jx-models are designed specifically for espresso while also being suitable for pour over. Of course, everything is relative, and you might make a 1-liter French press every morning. In that case, you’d probably be served better with an electric grinder or a hand grind with an enormous capacity such as the Lido 3. Grind speed is essential when it comes to hand grinding, so it’s important to determine how fast a grinder gets the job done before buying it.The Rok is entirely different from the other hand grounds out there. It’s not handheld. It’s a colossal device meant to be placed on a counter. It looks impressive and would stand out in a good way in most home baristas’ setup. Overall, this grinder will serve you well when it comes to brewing methods such as the French press, pour over, Aeropress, and so on. I haven’t attempted to grind for espresso, and the company doesn’t encourage it.

Z-Pro Series: Red Dot Design Award Winner (2018) due to the introduction of the external adjustment ring, just like you would expect on an electric grinder.

The brand

Also, if your hands are on the smaller side, it might be easier to use the Q2 as it requires less grip strength. Conclusion The K-Max delivers a very balanced yet sweet cup of coffee. In addition, you can comfortably push the extractions with this grinder. In many ways, Hario is synonymous with the third-wave movement. The Japanese brand just oozes ‘slow coffee.’ TheQ2 is an ideal coffee grinder for traveling as it’s lightweight and compact. Indeed, it will comfortably fit in a coffee travel bag or even an AeroPress plunger. Of course, this is a significant advantage if AeroPress is your brewer of choice, as you can take both the brewer and grinder with you as a one-piece. The only real downside to the JX-Pro is that it is a manual coffee grinder. But, that’s kinda the point and if that is what you are looking for then you don’t really need to look any further. Especially as it performs on par with many (more expensive) electric grinders.
