About this deal

If you at any time researched pedalboards of famous guitar players, there's one pedal that you saw at least once. The famous Boss TU tuner. Classic looking stomp pedal that… Gear Review Snark ST-8 – The Little Tuner That Could If there is trouble connecting or reconnecting as a product is switching modes, ex: StroboPLUS HDC product id 0006 to StroboPLUS HDC Firmware Mode 8006 run the command: Non-chromatic tuners allow you to tune only to set notes, for example, the standard EBGDAE. Chromatic tuners straight up tell you what note you’re playing, and you have to do the rest. These custom modes are what Peterson calls “Sweetened Tunings”. In short, they are slight modifications to the standard guitar tuning (like the Buzz Feiten tuning system). There are modes for 6 string guitars, basses, 12-string guitars, lap steel, as well as violins and violas. A few of these are also uncharacteristic tunings used in other parts of the world, which is an option that’s nice to have. The larger size of the Clip also won't be for everyone, but with its two different tuning modes and bright display, this will suit many players.

The menus on the Peterson StroboClip are very straightforward. While the tuner on, you tap the middle button and you’re in a menu that Peterson calls “sweetened tunings”. In short, these are presets for popular alternative tunings. When compared to the TB Strobe Tuner, which is a Windows app, StroboClip still felt superior. One thing that I found weird is that the two tuners disagreed on how my G string should sound like. I couldn’t find an explanation for this. I even tried different guitars, but couldn’t get them to agree on this particular string. What gives? All in all, if you want a most budget-friendly tuner out there, good enough for day-to-day tuning, this little Snark is your guy. To find the right tuner for you, it’s important to start by asking yourself a few key questions. Allow us to walk you through them: Why do I need a clip-on guitar tuner? The main things to mention here are the micro USB for future firmware updates and the custom tunings modes. Please note that you cannot use the USB for charging, which is a minus.People seem to like their accuracy in a tuner. In reality, there’s rarely a need for a tuner that’s accurate beyond the standard accuracy. This is around +/- 1 cent. To put things into perspective, one cent is one hundredth off a semitone (or a fret on your guitar). Here’s the elephant in the room; your guitar is never in tune. At least, not totally, and that is because stringed instruments are volatile. Which clip-on guitar tuner is right for your needs depends on a number of factors, but we’d say that if you are a beginner, and likely to be playing a beginner’s guitar, you might be better off using a chromatic tuner. They will be cheaper, easier to use and a quality chromatic tuner will be accurate enough to make your guitar sound in tune. Bubble-free installation to make application fast. Can be removed and re-applied easily without leaving smudges on the display.

StroboClip is, as the name implies, a clip-on tuner. But, the first part of the name implies something a little bit more interesting. That is that this is a strobe tuner. Simplified, this means that it offers much greater accuracy than a chromatic tuner. This makes the StroboClip a rare tuner that’s usable in every environment. It works inside and under normal amount of light. Under direct sunlight, you have to struggle a little and change the viewing angle, but it’s definitely still useable. Peterson StroboClip HD perfectly useable under direct sunlight Performance, Accuracy With the rise of smartphones, it's hard to find a reason to go out and spend money on a guitar tuner. Why should you when you can install a phone… Gear Review Best Practice Amps for Guitar

In a perfectly quiet environment with no extraneous noise, a clip-on tuner can be incredibly accurate. Compared to a phone app or a tuner that uses a microphone, clip-on tuners are far more effective than these. That said, a clip-on tuner won’t be as effective as a guitar tuner pedal, as they will still be susceptible to certain loud noises, like when your bassist really cranks their amp for example. Conclusion: This is the best tuner I have used. It may be over the top for most casual players, but if you are frustrated with cheaper tuners this one will not disappoint. There are conflicting opinions on whether such accurate tuners are necessary. In my opinion it really depends on who you are playing with and whether you need/want a very close tuning. Another factor is speed. A responsive tuner like this one lets you tune up fast, which is really nice when playing with other people or live.
