About this deal

Axus Decor Colron Dunlop Pro Decor Geocel Hyde Mirka Osmo Paint Warrior Red Devil RollingDog Semin Tajima Hi the Wooster FTP 2.5″ is my favourite for chalk paint. Google “wooster brush UK” which will provide suppliers for you to approach for best deal right now A 3″ FTP did the equivalent of all 4 lines better, sharper and faster with just ONE dip in the chalk paint. The 2.5″ Picasso did the equivalent of 2 lines before it ran out of oomph. They are lightweight, load a massive amount of paint and leave minimal orange peel effect. Always remember to get yourself a good quality roller frame. If the sleeve does not spin correctly it’s an uphill battle achieving a good finish.

UPDATE I tried the PAL with Little Greene acrylic matt emulsion: it takes a lot of feeding with paint to get up to speed for cutting a straight line, but once loaded, it cuts well. Just not as well as a Wooster Silver Tip or even an Alpha. The weight is delicious, if that is a possible adjective in this scenario, exceptionally comfy, just not as ergonomic as a Wooster Alpha. Brush Clip & Extension Brush Protection & Storage Cleaning & Preparation Dust Sheets Filling Knives and Scrapers Fixings & Hardware Hand Wipes Knives & Blades Ladder Accessories Paint Guides I haven’t brushed a lot of shellac-based BIN to be honest. I suspect the FTP is the first brush to try, although it is a shameful use of a brush! To apply coach enamel by spraying it will need thinning but only by around 5-10%. There is no hard and fast rule as a number of factors come into play. Temperature of the paint, the air temperature, size of nozzle and spraying air pressure all take effect. For the first spray of the job, fill the paint reservoir half full and add a small amount of thinner. Mix well and spray using around 40psi onto a test piece. Ideally use a nozzle size between a No 14 and 16. If the result looks uneven and ‘bitty’ then you have not quite thinned it enough. A side effect will probably be very little spray dust coming from the gun as well. To rectify add a little more thinner, mix well and try again. If the result is a good even coat with an even coverage you have achieved the result you need for a good job. If you are a decorator and swear by Hamilton Perfection S brushes, I suggest you cut the beautiful varnished handles off this synthetic atrocity and make a pendant. At splat, we’re committed to offering you great products while preserving our planet. That’s why our laying off splushes are designed with sustainability in mind. The European beech wood handles are responsibly sourced, and the recyclable steel ferrule ensures a smaller environmental impact, while being manufactured in the UK decreases the transportation footprint. With vegan-friendly synthetic bristles, you can paint with a clear conscience, knowing you’re making a brushstroke towards a greener future. crafted with love, tradition, and a sprinkle of magic Masking Tape Masking Tape Bulk Buy Masking Paper & Film Masking Paper & Film Bulk Buy Masking Machines & Dispensers If you want the advantages you describe of waterbased paint and achieve a good finish, it is possible, with so many good brushes around now. If you use the very good Purdy Monarch Elite brush, I suggest you give it a good clean in Krudcutter, hang it up and keep it on the van as a spare till you have tried the FTP. I did!

You need to key the paint in between coats with wet and dry P600-800 – this enables the paint to adhere. Pre-painted Surface Preparation There is no comparison. The Hamilton S feels like a yard brush compared to the Wooster Ultra Soft which is a fantastic little brush to lay off water-based primer without the tram lines left by Hamilton Perfection S. In kitchen painting, the lay on / lay off process is a useful technique especially on Shaker style doors. This is a demo by Mark Nash my Traditional Painter colleague, with Tikkurila paint. All of our products, with the exception of the Etch Primer and metallic colours, are primarily designed to be applied by brush. It is important you acquire a good quality synthetic brush. A 1, 2 or 3 inch are more than sufficient for most panel work. Apply with relatively fast brush strokes, horizontally first (side to side). Cover a small area of about 30” square each time; make sure each area is even. Once the brush is empty immediately refill it and then repeat the process. Brush into the area you’ve just covered.

In their defence, the handles and the feel of Hamilton S are superior to Purdy, ie the handles are so well finished with the added touch that the varnished handles don’t bubble in a vapour box brush keeper. But despite all this detail, I don’t find the Hamiltons as balanced or comfortable to hold as a Purdy.
