About this deal

The lift-out cylinder makes it ideal for use on stairs or taking it on the go with you to clean out your car or boat. Having a hose for use as a handheld gives you much more reach to get overhead or into hard to reach areas.

It's also pretty good investment-wise for those who have upright or canister vacuums for their heavy duty cleans, but want something for those midweek sweeps that can sit pretty when not in use. The second factor is weight, as some of the heavier cordless vacuum cleaners make hoovering your sitting room seem like an upper-body workout. What’s really good is the special motor provides consistent cleaning power right up until it’s full and needs emptying so there’s no drop off in cleaning. All cordless vacs need regular emptying but some tend to start strong and fade as they fill up. Take the Dyson V15 Detect, for example. There's a lot going on with it, as we found out when testing it for our Dyson V15 Detect review. For instance, it has a High-Torque cleaning head, that when used on Auto Mode will adjust the power to suit the type of floor you’re cleaning; clever. It also has a Laser Slim Fluffy cleaner head, which has a soft brush bar to ensure hard floors aren’t damaged. What's more, it features a class 1 laser diode (so it’s safe for humans and pets) mounted at an angle of 1.5 degrees and 7.2mm off the ground, which projects a beam of green light in front of the cleaning head to highlight microscopic dust particles. There's also a color LCD display, which shows level of dust collected and remaining runtime.

The Beko Powerclean has a similar design to some of the best Shark vacuum cleaners, with a hinged design for reaching under furniture. It's immensely powerful, too. There are three strength modes, but we found that we hardly needed to use the stronger settings in most settings thanks to the sheer power at play here. It's also got a supremely handy stand to keep things organised in flats or larger homes.

Do you know how long I’ve waited for a vacuum that doesn’t get hair tangled around it? It’s finally here! Our explainer on whether cordless vacuum cleaners are worth it has the full run-down on this particular question, but in short, yes: we think it's most definitely worth it to invest in a cord-free cleaner. You have to consider that a cordless vacuum cleaner tends to be twice as expensive if you compare it with a regular model that provides the same performance.

The flexible hose helps to get into some tough to reach areas. And the accessories also add to the ability to get a thorough clean of all areas. A crevice tool, dust brush and upholstery tool all help to get a deep clean, but the standout accessory is the pet turbo brush attachment for when it converts to a handheld vacuum. While most cordless vacuum cleaners are bagless, there are a few versions with disposable dust bags. These have the advantage of larger dust capacities, so you'll need to empty them less often. You'll need to factor in the ongoing cost of replacement dust bags, though. Having a rotating brush will help to beat the pet hair off of your carpet or furniture without needing to use the higher power setting. The Roidmi X30 VX looks good in silver and has all the features you’d expect in a luxury vacuum cleaner: an LED display, up to 80 minutes run time, a dark-detecting LED light and an easy-empty dust container. It also has a few features you won’t have come across before, including a 200rpm (revolutions per minute) steam mop head. As someone who lives in a tiny flat, the idea of having two otherwise bulky appliances in one is attractive.

Introducing Vax ONEPWR

It comes with a great range of attachments including an upholstery nozzle, crevice nozzle, dusting brush and floorhead with light. An extra battery is also included, which doubles the cleaning time to an incredibly impressive 120 minutes. What’s not so impressive is the four hours it takes to recharge. The motor is so strong it rivals many corded vacuums. It’s lightweight and highly manoeuvrable to get into any area of your home. It cleans right up to the edge of the floor.

Power trigger Some models require you to hold down the power button while cleaning. This is usually to save battery life but may not be suitable for everyone. Many cordless vacuums are great for cleaning hard floors but not so great when cleaning rugs. Make sure you evaluate your needs before you buy one. When you’re on a budget you have to accept that you’re not going to get as good a product. Not necessarily a bad product, but certainly not as good. That said, it’s better to have some of these features and not need them than to suddenly find you need some and don’t have them. The next biggest barrier to getting your stairs clean is the cord itself. Many times it won’t reach the top of the stairs.

While 60 minutes might sound like a lot, some people might need more. And though the battery can be swapped out to double your runtime, that will cost you extra - making an already eye-wateringly expensive vacuum cleaner even pricier.
