It is a bit disturbing to think that BL may do this especially well because the characters are still inhabiting a largely homophobic world that makes them feel like they can't express their attraction to each other in public, or to themselves for that matter, but hopefully that piece of the equation will change sooner than later. Chiharu Saeki and Wataru Toda are two high school students who find that they both have the same hobby.

High-schooler Wataru Toda is a film buff and he’s delighted when – through a chance encounter – he discovers that Chiharu Saeki (in the same year) shares his obsession. But the more time he spends with Chiharu, Wataru realises that he may not only be as unaffected by Chiharu's confession as he claimed to be, but those feelings may also be mutual. this was originally going to be four stars for me, but the final chapter had me on a chokehold from all the emotions i didn't expect to feel in a manga with only 5 chapters that i couldn't help but give it five stars overall. At first, and this is one of my favorite things about My Summer of You is how for Wataru, he is not phased in the typical way that his friend likes him.When he finally gets there and Saeki is there ( which is just perfect timing considering Saeki is not currently living in that area either) my heart skipped a few beats.
