Balancing the RSC 2 is easier than the Ronin SC, with independent locking axes and clearer controls – though beginners may need to watch a couple of YouTube videos to. This enables a single shooter to capture smooth and cinematic footage using a manual lens, without relying on a second camera operator or focus puller. Like the DJI Ronin-SC before it, the DJI RSC 2 is a three-axis camera gimbal which helps vloggers and videographers shoot super-steady footage single-handedly.

This focus wheel on the front of the handle is a neat idea, but unless you have a camera that supports electronic focus control, it's really for DJI's own focus motor add-on (included in the Combo kit).

The motors of the RSC 2 are 50% more powerful than those of the Ronin-SC, which is the predecessor of this redesigned gimbal. Remain in Sport mode: Press and hold the M button and press the trigger twice to remain in Sport mode. The Pro Combo is required to unlock its full potential, but new control options compliment what was an already comprehensive feature set.
Where the Ronin-SC’s trio of LED indicators required you to remember how you’d programmed each mode, the RSC 2 uses its 1-inch OLED to display which mode you’re in, what that mode does, the panning speed and the available battery life. And if it does need a boost, USB-C quick charging is a boon: just 15 minutes at the plug adds around two hours of battery life – ideal if you need some extra juice to finish a shoot. This includes gimbal movement, using the virtual joystick and Force Mobile, so gimbal mimics the mobile device's movement. Camera control cables are also included that allow for control of select cameras and functions directly from the gimbal controls. A mini tripod is included with the RSC 2 that attaches to a 1/4"-20 thread on the bottom of the grip handle to function as a stand or an extension handle for two-handed manoeuvring of the gimbal for certain shots.
That figure naturally varies depending on how hard the axis motors are working to smooth and track motion – and whether you have the RavenEye transmitter connected – but the RSC 2 can comfortably make it through a full day’s filming. In-body stabilisation is fine for smoothing out ‘jitters’ in static handheld shots, but it doesn’t really deal with fast or erratic camera movements. Redesigned axis knobs work with the existing locks to make the balancing process slicker, but in practice it’s still quicker to collapse the gimbal without resetting the axis positioning. The DJI RSC 2 Pro Combo includes more attachments in addition to the RSC 2 gimbal, enabling a more thorough workflow.The redesigned carrying case features a waterproof body with dedicated compartments for each of the RSC 2's parts. Its Ronin series of gimbals has been around for nearly as long, and has come a long way in design since the first generation. It's pretty beefy and you need to make sure you don't catch your fingers or hands as you close it back up again. The innovative folding design also enables content creators to find creative ways of using the gimbal, such as vertical filming without additional accessories.
