About this deal

Anthony was also the first British winner of the Hans Christian Andersen Award, one of the highest international honours for illustration. Ann Darrow has a Marilyn Monroe appearance but I didnt find Kong scary enough, although the illustrations are very detailed.

A god on his island, the enormous gorilla will interact with humans and fall for the beautiful girl, actress Ann Darrow, a blonde sensation looking like Marilyn Monroe. He hides a number of interesting and thought provoking things in his illustrations which almost makes it feel like you’re reading the pictures as well the text. This is a picture book for older children, which will be sure to engage the most reluctant reader and will appeal to children of approx 7+, although it is also ideal to read aloud. The text is beautifully worded and is matched by Browne’s equally impressive (as always) illustrations. Up ahead in a jungle clearing, Kong places Ann in a high cleft of a dead upright tree, then goes back and confronts his pursuers as they are walking along the top of an enormous fallen tree trunk over a deep ravine.

However, the events in between the action scenes focused on some of the not-so-important elements of the story that would generally not interest children.

They set sail aboard the Venture, an old tramp steamer that travels for weeks in the direction of Indonesia, where Denham claims they will be shooting. The enthralling story of King Kong involves battles with dinosaurs, daring rescues and incredible escapes - endless thrills lead up to one of the most famous climaxes of all time!Denham then describes something monstrous connected to the island, a legendary entity known to the islanders as "Kong".

Captain Englehorn is able to understand the native speech, and at Denham's urging makes friendly overtures to the chief.

Anthony Browne has always acknowledged this classic cult movie to be one of the most potent influences on his work, and now he presents his own version with striking full color illustrations. Además en el personaje femenino se plasma el síndrome de cenicienta, ya que por una parte Kong buscaba cuidar a Ann y por otra parte su prometido salía siempre en su rescate. Anthony Browne is the acclaimed author and illustrator of such prize-winning bestsellers as Gorilla (winner of the Kate Greenaway Medal and the Kurt Maschler Award), Willy the Wizard , My Dad , Voices in the Park (winner of Kurt Maschler Award) and Zoo (winner of the Kate Greenaway Medal). The famous end scene of Kong atop the Empire State Building, swatting away the fighter planes pelting him with their constant stream of bullets was just as dramatic and descriptive as other adaptations. I think it portrays a few sad and timeless truths: that humans break the spirits of strong and powerful creatures; greed is dangerous; we resort to killing as a way to solve problems.

Near Fine, unclipped dustjacket with a small nick near the foot of the spine and minor rubbing to the extremities. Even when King Kong takes Beauty back into his cave, it’s portrayed as a vast cave, one which could even swallow the great Kong. When the gorilla leaves Ann to investigate the noise, a pterosaur swoops from the sky and clutches Ann in its talons. This is the first time 'Kong' had ever appeared as a book and a book Anthony Browne was destined to illustate. En la versión de Anthony Brown las ilustraciones son maravillosas, tienen un nivel de detalle fantástico, me llegó a sorprender de los detalles que presenta, es increíble la ilustración.

It’s considered a Graphic Novel but is short enough that it could also hold a child's attention span.
