About this deal

Come down the travelators, exit Sainsbury's, turn right and follow the pedestrianised walkway to Crown Walk and turn right - and Coles will be right in front of you. A very British hero, the unassuming yet utterly superb Kevin Sinfield – rugby league great turned rugby union coach turned charity fundraiser, all while carrying a torch for the true meaning of sport and friendship. He was awarded an OBE in the Queen's Birthday honours for his efforts, along with the Freedom of Leeds and a special BBC Award for his fundraising. My worry is that in 20 years there’s no rugby left and society has a much bigger problem with, for example, obesity. His quiet, calm, committed leadership makes people want to support him and we are all doing that as he supports Rob Burrow and everyone living with MND' Clare Balding 'The friendship between Kevin Sinfield and Rob Burrow gives you faith in humankind' Sir Chris Hoy.

We played three 20-minute blocks and I spent the whole hour playing as well as I could but also encouraging everyone around me. What a modest guy who is surrounded by family and friends enabling him to have a great career and then raise awareness for such a cruel condition such as MND, a true champion. His unwavering commitment to support the fight against motor neurone disease is truly awe-inspiring. It’s been an incredible week meeting so many members of the MND community from across the UK and Ireland.

As the charity of Leeds Teaching Hospitals, we provide support for eight areas which include Leeds General Infirmary, Leeds Children’s Hospital, Leeds Cancer Centre, St James’s University Hospital, Chapel Allerton Hospital, Seacroft Hospital, Wharfdale Hospital and Leeds Dental Institute.

Five stars awarded, not for the writing style and structure (which was muddled in places) but for the sheer bloody brilliance of his friendship and support for Rob and friendship to the other MND-suffering rugby colleagues. We felt so privileged yesterday in Brighton to have the opportunity to complete the Extra Mile alongside so many people living with MND. It was an honour and a pleasure to be joined by Charlie Bird from the Extra Mile event for our final 8k and for Irish rugby stars Tommy Bowe, Ian Madigan, Gordon D’Arcy and Keith Earls to join us. For the MND community, every second counts and we will be making the most of every step on this challenge to raise awareness, funds and support for that community.Told with Sinfield's characteristic warmth, dry wit and inspirational leadership, 'The Extra Mile' is the story of an astonishing life, of an enduring friendship, and of a remarkable, humble human being who has defied the odds. Written with Paul Hayward, it charts his career in the 13-man code and his extraordinary fundraising efforts for motor neurone disease (MND). Sinfield won seven Super League titles, three World Cup Challenges and two Challenge Cups in 521 matches for his club.

In Autumn 2020 Kevin Sinfield ‘just went for a run for a mate’ after his former Rugby League teammate Rob Burrow was diagnosed with motor neurone disease in 2019. We also campaign and raise awareness so the needs of people with MND and everyone who cares for them are recognised and addressed by wider society. The Extra Mile tells how Sinfield set about raising money to combat motor neurone disease, the appalling condition that has gripped his former Leeds Rhinos teammate and best pal, Rob Burrow. He felt bewildered by all the different tactics and systems, by the complexity of the scrums and the “esoteric new world” of the rucks.
