About this deal

Hoewel het me heel leuk lijkt om het een keer mee te maken (natuurlijk niet net zo eng en onmogelijk als in de films), heb ik zelf dus nog nooit in een escape room gezeten. During the chapters concerning the people in the elevator, we get to know a lot about each of the people trapped. It has a very large font and the characters and writing seems to be a middle-grade book, but this was very scary for a children's book.

I know that sounds like a bummer, but it worked really well for me and shows that the author can carry a breathtaking novel in a satisfying manner well beyond a few "mind blowing" plot twists. It seems that winning the escape room isn't all they are fighting for, the continuation of the entire planet is! This is smart, thrilling sci-fi that reads like Black Mirror for a middle-grade audience: punchy and action-packed, with a killer twist. Then they must command a spaceship heading to Mars… The thrills never cease and the peril seems endless. The latest mind-blowing novel from award-winning author Christopher Edge, Escape Room is a thrilling adventure that challenges readers to think about what they’ve done to save the world today.Towards the end of the book we get another massive information dump, so many details about why and how Sara does what she does. but if you’ve been watching the news, getting sick of seeing shitty people get away with shitty things, do you want challenging and upsetting or do you want to see some smug, entitled monsters get their comeuppance for once? Those under 16 require an adult to be on site at all times, however they do not have to play the game.

The story is told from two perspectives and works really well as the reader is kept entertained throughout. I soon realized just how well-layered and brilliantly written this one was and that ending paid off big time for this reader! I decided to read this book because it sounded like a taut psychological thriller and it had so many stellar reviews. You guys are such a force for good and I am a passionate supporter of Indie booksellers, so I'm so happy this worked out well (I'd love to know how many books were sold if you have it to hand - it felt like quite a lot!

The book presents 10 rooms in which the reader needs to pit their wits against the diabolical Wexell Corporation. Christopher Edge: Escape Room Review | When twelve-year-old Ami arrives at The Escape, she thinks it’s just a game – the ultimate escape room with puzzles and challenges to beat before time runs out. And what if all Escape Rooms in our city have already been completed by us, and we are still looking for more puzzles that we can deal with? While this would normally be a turn off for me, the plot and the potential outcome kept me motivated to keep on reading. It's not as fun to solve puzzles alone, the best part of a good escape room experience is cooperation.

There may be a strong message flung at the reader, just as the characters are heartlessly flung into danger, but it’s a message worth thinking about. the novel goes back and forth from the POV of the four members of the team who are trapped in the elevator to Sara Hall who details how everything came to this point.
