I haven't actually finished reading this book yet but I am so loving it that I can't hold back from telling everyone! The author brings all these elements and so much more to her book and it was a fabulous book to read and one that thoroughly enjoyed. So yes, she does know her stuff, what I liked about this book was that she used her own knowledge and that of others from around the world, it gives a deeper understanding as you do get different perspectives. Deftly harnessing the trade winds of history and geography, guiding us through eddies and currents of anecdote, [Czerski] leaves us with an understanding of the complexity of the oceans.
