This read-aloud rhyming story has fun, suspense and a happy ending – with Jane Chapman’s beautiful, captivating illustrations and Karma Wilson’s absorbing, lyrical words perfectly depicting the companionship of the warm, cosy cave and the contrast with the wild storm outside. This is obviously where Lady Gaga gets her best ideas: "The coals pip-pop and the wind doesn't stop.

As mentioned already the comparison of illustrations and words would be very effective in learning about comparisons. If you do not wish to enable cookies, you will still be able to browse the site, but you will not be able to login or purchase tickets. One by one, a whole host of different animals and birds find their way out of the cold and into Bear's cave to warm up. This is the second copy my kids have had as the first was such a favourite it was completely falling apart - both children insist on it every night and fight over who gets to press the snore button. Bear has the prototypical party host meltdown scene (see "Mean Girls," "Can't Hardly Wait", "Weird Science" et. Award winning illustrator Jane Chapman graduated from Brighton University with a First Class Honours degree in illustration. There aren't many words overall, but I think it could probably be considered a level 1 reading book, as the diversity of the words are evident. Okay look, i didn't read this myself BUT it was read to me by my nine year old niece and that was very special so it gets added to the list.

Beautifully written and inexpensive hard board book with (in our version) an interactive push button gentle snoring sound.
