About this deal

The film explores his descent into madness and depravity as he wields absolute power in Ancient Rome. When the grandmother leaves the two alone for a few days, their father suddenly appears at their door. I wrote the script myself,” said Daniel Craig in 2012, who admitted that Paul Haggis’s original screenplay arrived just two hours before the strike began. First the nice short Kiera Knightley version with the beautiful music and the awkward-but-sweet Bennett family; then the Colin Firth miniseries, of course; then the book.

Meryl Streep masters the look and distinctive sound of the character but also finds the character’s emotional spine, a sense of displacement that can be cured only by cooking; she shares that quality with Julie Powell (Amy Adams), the central character of the film’s parallel story, in which a modern blogger attempts to recreate every recipe in Child’s beloved book “Mastering the Art of French Cooking. The film features a number of impressive action sequences, including a battle between gladiators and wild animals, a chariot race, and a volcanic eruption. The Jane Austen Book Club (which I’ll be blogging about tomorrow) and If I Stay are the two that come to mind. Its provocative nature, unique casting choices, and tumultuous production have made it a subject of fascination and debate among film enthusiasts and scholars. Pompeii" draws inspiration from the real-life eruption of Mount Vesuvius and captures the essence of Roman society and the impending catastrophe that befell Pompeii and Herculaneum. He’s awkward and adoring, uncertain of how to ask Cage to make a movie with him, and he even introduces his hero to Paddington 2. But the overall product is vapid and pointless, feels like they had nowhere to go after closing out the Hoffman plotline so they made up some BS that feels derivative of the rest of the series.

Washington stars as “Whip” Whittaker, a commercial airline pilot whose quick thinking during a mechanical failure initially makes him a Sully-style hero. Somehow it had the emotional depth that I just couldn’t find, or at least connect with, in the book. This film’s first big reveal comes earlier than you might expect, and the pace only accelerates from there, serving its tightly wound plot through elegantly understated cinematography and crisp dialogue that carefully unfurls the paths that brought these characters together. Hi, don’t know if it’s already mentioned, there were so many comments I didn’t get to them all 🙂 but I just had to add a movie/book to this list.
