Entrance Assessments for admission in September 2024 will be held at Badminton on Wednesday 10 January 2024 and Scholarship Assessments on Thursday 11January 2024.All girls take examinations in English and Mathematics along with an online Cognitive Ability Test. Each girl will also have an interview with a senior member of staff. In addition, references are obtained from the girls’ current school. Information on the Scholarship Assessment is included in the Application Form. Entrance Exams for Applicants Overseas The Academic Scholarship is designed to recognise a girl’s achievements or her potential and is open to pupils wishing to join Badminton Junior School in Year 5 from either the maintained or independent sector. This scholarship will be awarded to girls who, in the opinion of the School, will not only contribute to the Junior School, but also have obvious potential to achieve well in the Senior School. This Scholarship is retained until the end of Year 8 when a new application can be submitted. Assessment papers and interviews for entry in September 2024 will be held at Badminton in February. Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.

Candidates may apply for only one scholarship or award unless applying for an Academic Scholarship when we will accept a second application in another category, only one will be awarded. This process of appointing a new Head is already underway and we are pleased to announce that the Governors have appointed Mr Stuart Dalley (current Senior Deputy Head at Badminton) as Acting Head from September 2022. This will provide a great degree of continuity and assurance to the School and its community, and allow us to transition into the future with confidence. We make sure girls are ready for examinations, but we do not test and test. Small class sizes mean we can really see how girls are getting on and we tailor our teaching to their needs and interests. The girls are competitive, but they compete with themselves as much as with each other. They are rightly proud of their success, and they see this as a product of the support they receive from staff and, crucially, from one another. Scholarships Every year, Scholarships and Exhibitions worth either 5% or 10% remission on fees are available and awarded to girls with particular talents entering Junior School in Years 5 or 6, or the Senior School in Year 7 (11+), Year 9 (13+) and Lower Sixth (16+). The following scholarships are available: This Award is for external candidates who are applying from a state secondary schools.The Award will be given to students whose application and entrance assessments indicate that they would benefit from the opportunities at Badminton. A Bursary application can be submitted separately, please request a form.The School consistently achieves impressive academic results which enables the girls to access a wealth of world class universities, Music Conservatoires and Art Colleges but the real aim at Badminton is to encourage the girls to become curious, confident and enthusiastic lifelong learners. Badminton’s community doesn’t stop at the end of the Sixth Form, and it goes far beyond the School gates. The Music Scholarship is for girls who are passionate about the importance of Music and work to ensure it plays a key role in the life of the School. The Academic Scholarship is aimed at pupils who show a genuine interest in the academic side of School life and are prepared to be an academic role model to other pupils.
Your daughter will be known and fully supported in whatever her talents or interests may be. We often get asked what the characteristics of a Badminton girl are and the truth is, there is no one ‘type’! Sport Assessment of Skills including core physical abilities (e.g. strength, speed, power, agility), as well as generic and sports specific skills (through drills and small sided games). Badminton girls are treated like the individuals that they are; we inspire them to pursue their own interests and expand and explore their ambitions, both in their academic work and in co-curricular activities.
