About this deal

I still have a USB cable plugged into the second USB port, as I like the keep the phone charged on longer journeys, but day to day use, Android Auto fires up, just like you've plugged your phone into the car, without having to do or select anything.

In my case, I have a Pioneer aftermarket head unit installed in mine that has its own USB port by way of a separate cable that comes out near the glove compartment. One thing I didn't have a chance to try is to see how the device works in tandem with an in-car Wi-Fi hotspot. It was a warm day but with heavy use apps running, using data and connection via WiFi to android auto, it is going to get warm. The Motorola MA1 sports a low-profile industrial design for drivers who want to experience a seamless wireless connection but do not have the factory-supplied technology that allows them to do so. It may come with the potential for headaches at some point, but that's also speculative, and given what the MA1 can do, it is worth giving it a shot.

Wireless Android Auto is just awesome, and the flexibility it gives for either charging your phone wirelessly, or simply docking it without a cable sticking out of it, should feel liberating.

I have a similar Dongle but iPhone and when I’m using the it wirelessly it disconnects from the wireless charging pad and the reason is the phone over heats and gets hot because it’s connecting wirelessly through the dongle and there must be a safety setting in the car to disconnect. I notice some reviews claim there's quite a drain on the phone Battery, have you seen any evidence of that? Adapter compatibility depends on the automaker's specific implementation of USB and Android Auto; contact your vehicle manufacturer if you are unsure. It's one of the potential pitfalls of a device that, while singularly focused, doesn't have an easy way to interface with it when something doesn't seem right.I also tried it without the case yesterday and it did the switching green to amber light, just the same.
