Fans of the film franchise can further get their superhero fill (besides just replaying the movie soundtrack) with a new book titled Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse: The Art of the Movie by Ramin Zahed, which was released on July 3.

It's an exclusive, behind-the-scenes pass into the craftsmanship that defines Spider-Man's universe. Running at over 220 pages, the book covers character designs, color keys/scripts, set/prop designs and more.

My only wish is that even more of the nitty gritty had been covered, but everything the book delivers is of the highest quality and great insight for fans and aspiring concept artists or film designers. This new version features the super suit she sports in the sequel — with the hood up to keep her identity a secret, of course. As I wrote about in my earlier post on the Visdev Art Of Across The Spider-Verse, the many concept artist/character designers have been proudly showcasing their art created for the film on social media, and most, if not all of them are now neatly collected in this official art book for easy perusal and enjoyment. Spider-man: Across The Spider-verse is an upcoming Sony film produced by Avi Arad, Amy Pascal, Phil Lord, Christopher Miller and Christina Steinberg.

One thing that has enchanted the internet almost as much as Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse itself has is getting glimpses from artists into the work that made the movie such a visual treat. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse: The Art of the Movie takes readers behind the scenes to showcase the art and artistry of Sony Pictures Animation's highly-anticipated sequel to 2018's Academy Award-winning animated feature, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.Considering that both Spider-Verse instalments have acknowledged the influence of comic books, in terms of character designs and methods of visual storytelling, it is nice seeing numerous comic book artists getting involved in Across the Spider-Verse. It sucks that they cut it, but as we are expected Beyond the Spider-Verse to be released this year, a trip to The Bar with No Name would be nice to see. Presented with an Exclusive comic book created as a prop for the film and hand-inked by Marcelo Vignali in the pulpy, dot screen style of the Silver Age. SO hard to keep track of what’s being said, there are plenty of unfinished sentences that goes for pages incomplete.

Whilst I look forward to checking out the special features once the film arrives on home video, Ramin Zahed’s art-book goes into great detail about how the filmmakers achieve in creating so many layers behind the look of the film, such as the multiple dimensions and the many, many characters that inhabit them.
